A visitor at my home gave everyone a scare when she announced that her boyfriend was self isolating because a co-worker of his tested positive for COVID-19. We bullied her into getting a test yesterday morning at Mt Sinai and she got the results this morning - fortunately she was negative. I got a test at Women's College Hospital yesterday - apparently there was a line up in the morning, but when I went in the afternoon I was able to go straight in. It took a total of ten minutes from the time I arrived until I left. There are two swabs: the swab for the throat was ticklish, and the nasal swab was painful for about thirty seconds and made my eyes water. Results take one to two days. The test was completely free, and anyone can get one whether they have OHIP or not, whether they are legal residents or not. I think all sex workers should get a test at least once every two weeks, as well as the active hobbyists. Here is a link to testing centres: Covid 19 assessment centres

Will you get a written response (that you can show to an MPA) or is it just verbal? And yes, I know a good result today doesn't mean anything a week from now...but might still put an MPA at ease.

I will let you know when I get my result. You are correct that a negative result is not a guarantee but it significantly reduces the probability of infection, and provide some assurance to the people you spend time with.

unless you were self isolating between the time you took the test and visit the mpa, there will be a chance of being inflected. However the chance is very slim.

You are right, there is no certainty just probability reduction.

In York Region there are three COVID-19 Assessment Centres:
1) Mackenzie Health,
2) Southlake Regional Health Centre, and
3) Markham-Stouffville Hospital
Each of the COVID-19 Assessment Centres is adjacent to their respective hospitals.

No written report. All you get was a report of your test result which says Negative 2 days after you check on line for your test result.
Just like this one below..they only contact you if you were tested positive. Pretty much like STi tests. No news is good news.

After two days I got a phone call from Women's College Hospital an hour ago - I am negative for COVID-19. For some reason the result is not yet available on the website: COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Ontario. The female friend who got tested did it at Mt. Sinai and got her results in 24 hours.

What they should do is test anybody who wants an antibody test to see if they were sick before with mild symptoms. Then that will give a better picture of how many people have been infected and it will also show how many are now immune to it.

The last time I looked at anti-body tests for COVID-19 there were issues with reliability. Once those problems are resolved, and the test become widely available then they will really have an impact on our ability to get back to normal. In the meantime I think everyone should get the COVID-19 virus test periodically so we can resume life as normal with reduced risk.
