YAKIMA, Wash. – A 24-year-old massage therapist in Yakima is serving a six month sentence in a rape case.
In October 2023, during a massage therapy session, court documents say the victim told investigators that Jose Adrian Cisneros-Alvarez engaged in sexual misconduct with her, prompting police to bring a charge of second degree rape and the Washington State Department of Health to suspend his license.
In a plea deal with prosecutors, a Yakima County judge agreed last month to Alvarez’s plea of guilty to a downgraded charge of third-degree rape.
Court documents say the standard sentencing range for the count of third degree rape in this case is 6-12 months.
Alvarez will get credit for time served and has to register as a sex offender.
