LEHI, Utah (ABC4) — Court documents revealed the identities of two females arrested on prostitution charges and the name of the business involved after police searched a massage parlor in Lehi calling it a “front for a commercial sex operation.”
Minqui Lin, 53, and Yuqin Gong, 56, were arrested on Monday evening, Feb. 3, after detectives with the Lehi City Police Department searched the business and found them inside, according to court documents. Both denied performing any sexual acts for money, stating they only did massages.
ORIGINAL STORY: Police close Lehi massage parlor, say it’s a front for ‘commercial sex operation’
Documents say the parlor, called “Relax Massage,” was located near 780 E 200 S in Lehi. Police posted a photo with the words “permanently closed” on social media earlier this week, with a caption saying the massage parlor was a front for a prostitution operation.
Detectives first began investigating the business in mid-January after a concerned resident contacted authorities providing screenshots from an online advertisement for the Lehi massage parlor. The screenshots allegedly contained concerning messages, such as, “Super Pretty and sexy NEW Asian girls just arrived,” and, “I’m the kind of girl that will make you happy!”
Authorities then began surveilling the business and said most, if not all, of the parlor’s clients were men and were in the business for inconsistent amounts of time.
Documents said detectives spoke with two men who were exiting the parlor. The first allegedly admitted to paying for sexual acts on two separate occasions, while the other said he had gone in for a massage and left his appointment early after the masseuse made him “very uncomfortable.”
“The male said the massage was supposed to be $70, but when he gave her $80 in cash, she did not give him change. The male stated he decided not to make an issue because he just wanted to get out of the situation,” court documents read.
Police then executed a search warrant and arrested the two females inside the massage parlor.
While authorities investigated the business for possible human trafficking, police said it was not found “to be a factor in this specific situation.” Court documents added that the women said “they were not coerced or forced to work at the massage parlor.”
