SANDY — A licensed massage therapist was charged Thursday with sexually abusing two clients.
Corey Brent Christensen, 44, of Riverton, is charged in 3rd District Court with object rape, a first-degree felony, and five counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.
On Jan. 12, a woman went to a Salt Lake County spa where she had an appointment with Christensen for a massage. She told Sandy police she had gotten a massage from Christensen and nothing out of the ordinary happened. This time, however, the woman says Christensen inappropriately touched her while making statements such as, "This was supposed to be professional, but I couldn't help myself," according to charging documents.
During their investigation, police learned of a second woman who also went to Christensen in January and wanted a lymphatic drainage massage. During the massage, Christensen did a "poor job" of keeping the woman covered and breathed "very loud and heavy in her ear," the charges allege.
During a second massage on Jan. 11, the woman says Christensen inappropriately touched her and made sexual comments, according to the charges.
Christensen also booked a facial service with the second woman. When he arrived for his appointment, he "closed the door behind him, and immediately removed his clothing, down to his underwear," the charges state. The woman also noted that when Christensen took off his shirt, "he had a firearm in his waistband" and told her "he was required to conceal and carry for his other job as a government employee for Salt Lake City."
The woman says Christensen didn't threaten her with the gun, "but she was uncomfortable and felt as though it was intimidating."
According to Salt Lake City's website, Christensen is a civil enforcement supervisor. The duties for that job typically include overseeing parking enforcement, buildings and other codes. The Utah Division of Professional Licensing's website says Christensen also holds a limited building inspector license.
A no-bail warrant was issued Thursday for Christensen's arrest.
