I can't figure out all this new technology in my new car.
Have you found yourself saying something like this after buying a new car? While browsing through car technology issues, I found this interesting post from Isabella Traboscia (@isabellatraboscia), who says her new 2024 Genesis GV80 is doing things she didn't ask.
She loves her new luxury SUV. However, it's so complicated that she doesn't know why it's telling her about her posture while in the car. Have the automakers gone too far?
"So, I've been sitting in this car for a while, and I get this message on my dash that says my posture is bad. After this happened, the back of my seat gave me a massage."
"I don't even know how to turn this on. I don't know if this is even a massage, and I don't know what is happening right now."
"I also have white noise going on right now. It's called Calm Sea Waves and is playing on my sound system. I am speechless."
This is a love-hate relationship that Isabella has with her new luxury Genesis GV80.
What are others saying about the GV80?
On the Genesis Forum, users talk about its technology.
Other Owners Stated:
Similar issues were reported by member Crazyhorse for his GV80 and member Sheldon. Others, like contributor BillZ, suggested users do a reset by holding both the MAP and setup buttons together until the screen goes dark so the system will reboot.
I tried that, and while it rebooted, it did NOT fix the problem. Contributing member G-88862 stated that a software update fixed his issue, while contributor Sheldon stated on 5-27-2022 that "updating the firmware (manual, USB method) seemed to help" and stated he only had one screen of death since.
Two other members stated that once they turned off the car, locked it, and exited the vehicle for a time, the system worked again. "I had that same experience, and after about 10 minutes, I was good to go."
Unhappy Owner:
Michelle Krueger says on the Genesis GV80 SUV Facebook Group, "My massage seat comes on after an hour of driving. Is this normal? How do I turn it off?"
Franklin Sampson Jr - "You can turn it on at any time. You don't have to wait an hour. A button on the side of the driver's seat is next to the controls to move the seat. Press and hold it. You'll see options come up on your screen. You can start it or suspend it at any time."
Michelle D. Annarino - "When you hit 81 mph, it'll hug you a little, too. - I like it."
Lisa Mischley - "Yes, to keep your posture up to keep you awake. Love when it comes on.”
Genesis Refers to the Massaging Seats as "Ergo Motion Seats."
This feature is available on select GV80 models, typically the higher trim levels.

Isabella says, "I am not a car person, and I don't give two cents about a car, right? "But, I am sitting in my car; it's a Genesis GV80, which everyone should get because I am biased and obsessed about this car.”
"So, I've been sitting in this car for a while, and I get this message on my dash that says my posture is bad. After this happened, the back of my seat gave me a massage."

On the Genesis Forum, users talk about its technology.
"I just picked up my Genesis GV80, and it has tech issues. My GV80 3.5T Prestige's screen had a message that cameras were not receiving signals and tossed a Land Keep Assist malfunction warning: maps, radio, and other technology frozen with just a green screen."

"I do not expect this from a car with an MSRP of $74,000. I'm terribly disappointed."
Michelle Krueger says on the Genesis GV80 SUV Facebook Group, "My massage seat comes on after an hour of driving. Is this normal? How do I turn it off?"
Dani Diamond says, "It senses when you're starting to slouch and turn on."

Here's what you should know about the massaging seats in the 2024 Genesis GV80:
- Ergo Motion Seat: Genesis uses this name for their advanced seat system that includes the massage function.
- Comfort Stretch: This is the specific massage function within the Ergo Motion Seat system. It offers different modes and intensity levels to help reduce fatigue and improve comfort, especially on long drives.
- Availability: The Ergo Motion Seat with the massage function is usually found on the Prestige trim levels of the GV80. It might be an option or standard on other trims as well, so it's best to check the specific configurations.

She concludes by saying, "I am in heaven, and I'm team GV80 now. I named her Genny the Genesis."
