If the girl isn't willing to go back to your hotel right away to get the hanky panky started, then avoid her at all costs. That's my rule and it's probably saved me from a half dozen potential scams in the 15 business trips i've made to shanghai.

By the way, I was there in December and the action is there, it's just the same old shanghai and same places so nothing really new to report. The number of girls could be fewer now that it's freezing cold, but I still had a good time regardless.

I had a really hot girl hand me a card at the same place you mentioned. I asked her if it was SHE who was offering the service. A big "no" so I threw it away. Anyway - the tea house / bar girls will walk with you and ask questions about where you are from and all that crap. I usually let them to their pitch for a few minutes and then ask, "do you feel bad trying to steal from me?" They peel off so fast after that it's funny. The girls I'm talking about will only say quietly and discretely, "sex massage"? If you've got time in Shanghai, go to Sarcosa, Bodi, Heteng or Manhattan. That Nanjing Lu thing is really just a last ditch.

the point, that Stegram made, was, that the "teahouse" girls had left at that time of day.

That is very important, as the scams are by those, who want to go with you to some place of their choice, where they scam you together with the empoyees of that particular shop/massageplaneté/restaurant or whatever.

When you get those cards, they usually point o some masage-solon, that offers officially "massage", but whe nyou are in the massage-room with your girl, you can negociate almost anything.

Read the contributions about the scams and use your brains (I admit, once I also didn´t use mine... but that is documented here) and nothing much can happen to you.

Stegram, thank you for that. It has changed my perception of that wretched street ever so slightly. My night time pursuits have always taken place well away from the pedestrian walk. During the day I avoid it like the plague. 500RMB is a pretty reasonable deal. I've been approached in Fuzhou Lu (just behind Nanjing Lu) discreetly a couple of times by women offering a business card. My first reaction around that geographic area is to say "no" immediately. I was a little surprised on both occasions when the women didn't chase and hassle me which suggests it may have been legit. I am glad it worked out for you. I've heard too many stories of guys being fleeced. Perhaps you did well because it was evening and the scam artists only operate while the main tourist shops are open.

I have to chime in - I was walking along Nanjing Lu (over a year ago) and after the crowds start thinning in the evening the "tea house" girls seem to go away and the "sex massage?" girls come out. Most are not so attractive so I just say no, but one was cute and I was staying nearby so I told her that if she could get up to my room we had a deal. 500RMB for an hour. She followed me to the hotel and I told her to wait 5 minutes and then she could try solo to get up there. It worked out great and was a great hour. It was a last ditch for me that night since it was already 11 and I had to get up and work in the morning so I just went walking to see if there were good possibilities around.

Thanks for sharing. I have been out of Shanghai for the past few months so am unaware of the current situation. I am coming back to China soon and am unsure whether the China boards are so quiet because services on the ground are non-existant or because mongers are not coming to the boards.

Good work in staying away from all who approached you on Nanjing Lu. That would have ended in disaster had you followed a tout. I have never heard anything good coming from meeting a tout in that part of Shanghai.

The condo-type place sounded like a dead-end. From reading your post I think you've been very sensible and thought with your brain rather than your old fella whilst mongering. It is a good example for all to follow.

Yes, really very dead here on this board, even there should be enough things to share. At least I can tell you, the new wave sauna, also 999 are still in business and both offer fish bowl setup.

I was in Shanghai about a month ago and surprisingly didn't get much action as expected. I was at the Majesty Plaza on Nanjing Lu East on the pedestrian road. I did a lot of walking around that area, always during the day and only found one shop that looked like a BBS. I didn't have much luck looking for a typical massage type sauna without the guys trying to hustle you on the road...so I stayed away because of the reviews. There was a lot of offers on Nanjing Lu but I knew to stay away from them. I was a decent walk from the Big Bamboo but made it there around noon, not expecting much of course. I could see it being a good place to go to that has a US/UK appeal to it for those homesick. I asked the bartender for a sauna and they had no idea until I said Massage. They gave me some directions but it did not pan out since it led me to a big condo type property. The sauna may have been inside but wasn't sure and didn't want to seem out of place in a local chinese condo high-rise complex.

I found one around that place which turned out to be a rip off, located on a 2nd floor but don't remember name. No FS, but tit massage for 400rmb, that was all I found so I took it.

I also went to the place across from my hotel on Jiujang road going in that it looked like a legit place. Girls had the white massage outfits and all. Good massage, but nothing fun was offered. That was about 200rmb and good for just a massage. The girl ended up giving me her card and emp # which was #10.

Reason I did not find the two big time places was that I was unable to check the internet once I was there. I should have had them written down somewhere with the translations to Mandarin.

I'll be back in the near future hopefully and hope to have a better outcome.

The Shanghai Board seems to be really dead, I guess not much interest in sharing anymore. I've looked up the old posts and hope to have some of the action that you fellas have had next time. Would love a fish bowl setup.
