Lawmakers in New York are considering a bill that would permit licensed massage therapists to be listed as health care providers for injured workers.
S.B. 2612, introduced Monday and sent to the Labor Committee, would allow injured workers to seek treatment but would bar such providers from established workplace injury causation or disability.
Under the bill, a licensed massage therapist would have to complete a “formal course of study” and pass an “examination in accordance with the education law, the regulations of the commissioner of education, and the requirements of the board of regents.”
