Police enforced 02 am closing tonight

But there were no police visible on Bangla tho, but as usual days like this lots of people on Bangla and Sansabai when all bars close same time.

Why? I dont know but heard many rumours;

Patong and town police have arguments
Bomb in town
Big fight in Tiger or Hollywood (someone died?)

Should be back to normal in few days... I hope.

i always say that about Boston in the states
it closes at 2am and all the bars spill out at same time and viscious fights always happen
in NYC, closing at 4am, bars stay open even later. people leave at all different times and never see many fights

No need to go to Isan for me, although it is a nice break if thats what you're looking for....I have it all here..can find a girl anywhere....and don't need a bar to do it....I'm not against bars...To each his own....Just saying that there are a multitude of places and situations outside of bars to meet girls.....I'm out almost every night.....and you may see an occassional fight....it's far and few between

Since the closing times in the UK have been changed, there are a lot less fights and trouble when bars and clubs shut because you dont hang around outside. You go home as you have no idea where/when your friends or 'enemys' are out.

Didn't really matter where I was - the music was turned down, some lights switched off, but kept on serving until 3.

Seems to me we have been having this same problem and conversation since I discovered LOS, 8 years ago!

Doesn't look like it's going to go away anytime soon and likewise it's doubtful it will ever be a permanent problem. It's always going to swing in roundabouts depending on who new head honcho is in town and renegotiating his packages and what big wig is visiting

Anyone who has a business sensitive to these issues should factor this into their planning, likewise if you are a tourist then it's just something that doesn't make sense and lacks logic but hey it's Thailand so what does?

So the party normally starts at 2200 and fizzles (I am sure) by 0400.
What difference would it make if it started at 2000 and bars close at 0200.

Although the cheapness of alcohol has lead to alot more people at home, there are still people who go out here in the UK. Especially around this time of year. The group in my experience that have stopped going out as much tends to be the older men.

Would go in to a rant over supermarket prices, but i feel we have hijacked the thread enough.....

Does it really matter what time the bars shut shop ?.

I'm sure there are plenty of hours in the day/night to get tanked up at a bar and still go back to your loom with a BG. Tourist are very good at adjusting to the local scene, wouldn't take long for the bars to be full at 8pm if they shut shop at 1-2am. Some blokes over there now would be hitting the bars earlier than normal just in case they close early again and thats how the scene starts to adjust.

The only time I can see it effecting me is if I arrive on a late flight into Phuket and they are all closed up.:bad:
