Pricing seems to be a popular topic on the board again.
For those that disagree in paying an outrageous amount for HE's then like Welldunn states vote with your wallet! Its that simple guys.

if you go for a massage and she quotes you a stupid rate for extras simply state the rate you are willing to pay and leave it at that. One of 2 things will then happen; 1 she will continue your standard massage allowing you to leave with your money in your pocket to spend at a different provider or 2 she will accept your offer and provide said service.
There will always be whales (nubes who don't know any better), guys with more money than sense paying the rates asked because they think with the little head and of course guys with more money than you who will pay a higher tip and not think anything of it.

This board is a perfect example of all the types who visit providers! We have heard from guys who use large somes of cash to bribe the girl to do things they may not normally do, we have heard from guys who walk in and tip more than average up front to ensure they get the service they want and we hear from guys who think the standard massage price should include the HE!
There are guys on this board who go once a week or more and guys who can only afford to go twice a year.

The point I am trying to make is that you cannot change every guy out there and because of that the pricing will not go down.
I have issues with some of the pricing so I made my own adjustments thats all you can hope to do until more independent competition comes in.

Exactly. I will tip based on the service, but I will choose based on the basic price discussed up front. If it is too high, I leave. If there is no discussion up front, I do the undraped massage and wiggle my cut little ass until the lady can't hold back anymore, lol.

I have been know to tip nicely if the service is above standard and even higher if the service provider goes above and beyond. That only happens on subsequent visits where the service level has increase without any upgraded pricing getting shoved down my throat.

Bottom line, I like the ladies to understand I appreciate what they do and in return have found my YMMV levels seem to increase beyond what I ever expected.

And as Chaos says, let your wallet do the thinking.

I am one of the guys that goes once a week, or every second week. I have my favorites, but like the occasional variety especially if they come recommended. I generally tip $40.00, but if the service is really good I will go $60.00 (naturally both Sunny and Vivian are exceptions to this rule). The fact is that appears to be the going rate, trying to short change the ladies just means when you visit them next time they don't have the enthusiasm. Seriously, who wants a HE from a less than enthusiastic provider? All in an effort to save $20 or so.

Before she left Edmonton Vivian told me she and Angela preferred Calgary because they mad more money, the clients simply spent more. So apparently we have a bit of a reputation for being on the cheap side, so lets not go out of our way to foster that mindset. Ort we will lose more of our favorites as they seek out greener pastures. Remember for us its a sexual experience, for most of them it is a job. These ladies are like tradesmen, so who can blame them for going where the work is abundant and the pay is good,

On this Calgary vs. Edmonton thing- One could also surmise that because prices are cheaper here guys might make the trip from Calgary to visit providers here, eh? That would theoretically drive prices down in Cow Country.

Vivian and Angela may make more in Calgary, but don't assume that all of the masseuses are making more in Calgary. In fact, on the base rate for a one hour massage (not the tips), more and more places in Calgary are caving in to pricing lower than the 80/hr that had become the norm. 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 are being advertised more and more. In fact at the 55/hr place, 40 is the going tips rate for a HE. Calgary's streets are not paved with gold. And the abundant numbers of massage places is forcing some adjustments in price. Only the ones who provide something exceptional can hope to maintain their old rates...not many of them. The tip should truly reflect the level of service and what it means to you - it is that simple. This is why I have always preferred independents or RMTs where you develop rapport first and the services are YMMV and the tip reflects the pleasure created, sometimes mutual. What most people on this board are opposed to is a menu driven tips scale, regardless of the service level. $X for this, $Y for that...and every girl entering the biz expected it without putting in the effort to earn it.

A final note - those of us on a board such as this represent a very small slice of the overall segment of guys who visit masseuses. So, we don't actually influence pricing in a big way. We can only control our own actions and manage our generosity without getting silly. Or be silly only when service is extraordinary. Ultimately, market conditions - supply/demand and economy will take care of pricing.

Will end with an interesting real world case: back in the mid 80's when some of you were not yet born, in Toronto, in an alternate weekly newspaper called NOW, some well heeled escort agencies began a campaign that lasted several years that would place dozens of ads with a message that boiled down to this - anyone seeking escorts for less than $200/hr was in essence seeking a terrible experience and the likelihood of catching a disease. This was a campaign to brainwash guys into believing that $200/hr should be the starting price for such entertainment. And this was in the 1980's. If pricing had held, escorts in TO today would be starting at $600/hr or more. And then came the Eastern Europeans, the Russians and then the Asians. So 30 years later, in 1980's $ terms, pricing has adjusted downwards substantially. Similarly, the market will also take care of the massage biz in Alberta, just give it time.

That is like taking your car to a backyard mechanic who is an apprentice and paying more than you would at a licensed shop! I cannot understand how or why guys would do this as the reality is you have no idea if they have even taken a massage class and you can spend the same amount with receipt at an actual rmt.
I also have issue with the rmts who are getting lazy and not providing a real massage just a glorified rub..
I have realised that no matter how often I go or how well I tip there is always some other guy who will out do me so now I go by the beat of my own drum. I make the offer and they can accept it or not but if it is accepted I expect good service.
I will never go back to the place by the 142 st traffic circle because the girl offered a HE at about the 40 minute mark and when I said no her massage quality dropped by about 90% for the remaining 20 minutes so I felt ripped off.
If you look many MPs are providing specials and discounted rates now and I would think the trend will soon follow to our rmt ladies

Why is Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver ...etc.. cheaper than here in cow country?
Why we see more and more new providers coming here from Vancouver and Toronto?
Why we showing so much demanding side and all this providers use it like tools for keeping price high.
That two Vivian and Angela are little bit greedy, I know both them very well, yes their service is so good.

A friend of mine who lives in Vanc says competition is so fierce, you can get FS for as little as $100. There is even a market for BFFS providers and users. That's what scares the hell out of me. Some of those girls make there way to places like Edmonton.

Great point Bob and yes it seems there are always girls rotating in from Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto etc to Edmonton! Heck some even live in Vancouver and travel in to Edmonton for work.
The more girls that come, will bring down the prices it will be like the escort business in Edmonton now where you can get a $120 special in legit places when that was unheard of a couple of months ago! What we need in Edmonton is someone to come in and compete against the Chinese mafia that are running the majority of these places perhaps the Russian mob will see value in expanding from Toronto further West!

Russians tried a few years back, but pulled out. Shortly after, the Asians started buying up the local parlors to set up semi legit places for the girls to work, as opposed to micros. (It should be noted Micros are entirely illegal and I am surprised Vice has not closed that market down). Get caught there and you will be charged for sure, whereas Adult parlors leave some loopholes to get out of any charges for Johns.

Many of the girls are moved from city to city, working in the adult parlors under false immigration status. But they fly under the radar as they have secured the locations and also the licence to operate.

Asians do not work their girls on the street. Either micros or as we have become accustomed too, the approved adult rub and tugs. Police leave them be, LE checks from time to time to ensure no slavery and underage participants (or drugs). But as the girls move through the system, there is rarely a gal who is here long enough to do anything about it.

The influx of Montreal escorts I find interesting. I don't think they are all setting themselves up here as Independents. More than likely they are being run by the Hell's Angels agency, is my guess.

I also understand from info I got from some Asian RMT's, many of the older ladies were once Escorts (for lack of less respectful descriptions) in their countries, and have found a way to continue under less compromising situations by working as RMT's. That is why from time to time based on their personal situations, you may find some will perform FS, but never admit or confirm if asked. The ones that fall into this category are typically in their 40 - 60 age bracket, depending on how well Mother Nature took care of them. Discussion of popular ladies on this sight confirms the age group in a lot of cases.

So pricing is and will be supply and demand. If another agency or group starts flooding the market with ladies (immigrants or not), you will soon see turf wars as they flex their muscles. And some cultures are very nasty when it comes to territorial issues or market control. Unless the public is threatened, the policing will likely resolve to cleaning up the mess after and not really doing much else to curb the industry activities.

Police are crying now about lack of staff, so any efforts towards this industry and any wrong doings is way down their list of priorities.

I know that I have brought this point up before but it is appropriate here. You are delusional if you think that you as a consumer of these services have any say or influence over the "pricing structure". Your only influence is to offer what you feel is a fair price and hope they accept that price. The other thing you need to remember is that a very small percentage of these providers are actually RMT's or have had any training what so ever, if they happen to be at a location that provides receipts it isn't very likely that the registration number and name on that receipt is theirs. It more than likely belongs to a legit RMT that is loosely connected to the parlor or sold their registration to the parlor. Finally can someone please explain why anyone would be upset with the "students" for charging whatever they like for their services. Everyone has a personal price for their time and a price for which they will whore them self out at, why do I care or you care what they charge. Its not like they owe it to you or I provide us with a "good deal" or reasonably good services. Just keep in mind that these people are selling sexual services, its not like they are a legit business.

I was in Toronto during the EE girls boom, if I recall correctly, the prices did not come down drastically until many of the girls became independents. First they came as agency girls, many on "stripper" visas, found out how the Canadian market worked, got some contact emails/ numbers from regulars. A few months or a year later, some of them returned as indys ("tourist" visa), reaching out to their old regulars, and cut out the middleman. They would also arrange for a different girl to take care of their regulars when they return home so they share their good regulars. Generally, the agencies leave them alone because they rely on regulars, word of mouth, TERB, CAF to find business; they don't advertise so they have minimal impact on the agencies and their high rates; agencies generally target visitors for higher rates.

The real sad part, why I started avoiding certain agencies, for a $200 agency appointment, the girl only get to keep $60-$80. The agency gets 100 (overhead, taxes, visa fees, protection etc. etc.), the driver gets $20, the appointment taker $10 etc.

I agree with Tom Smith in a way that us consumers have some but a much smaller impact on pricing then the suppliers. They know we (as in all Edmonton pooners) are not going to reduce our consumption much regardless of pricing; but the arrival of another 100 foreign girls would have a drastic impact on pricing.
