Question Sorry - she’s running 15 minutes late….

So I suspect we’ve all arrived on time or a few minutes early to help with the ladie’s schedule so she can stay on track only to find out that the guy walking in with you is late for an appointment or the guy that pulled up next to you while you waited for 15 minutes to walk in at 1:29 for a 1:30 appointment was 15 minutes late and needs another 20 minutes before you can start … you get the gist…

I run into this more often than having an appointment start on time so curious what everyone’s opinion is on this.
To be fair to those who are good at keeping a schedule, this is not for them, but for those who believe that it’s fair to penalize those who know how to keep a schedule…
And, the few times that I have been a few minutes late for appointments, I’ve forfeited the time so that the lady’s next appointment started when it should..
Welcome some feedback as I’m still a bit pissed, to be frank…
And looking for reasonable suggestions to the spa owners when this happens… cheers

Hence i go on slower day and time lol. Oh, and mostly low-key places.

Just like you, I remember booking my fav and shows up early, waited additional 10-15 minutes into my appt, then towards 30 minutes mark, receptionist calls out the girl saying her next appt is here.

Some will take regulars or 'nice' customers granted as they tend do let it go without much pushback, but then, even if you are ok or overlook somehow, it's def bad experience overall. Maybe they can hire better receptionist XD.

It really depends but i generally don't go back if it becomes too frequent.

If I am ever going to be late it generally means something really drastic happened and if it's a traffic thing I may only be a minute or two or maybe five.
In either of these circumstances I text my regular what is happening.

I NEVER book an appointment through a spa number, always with the girls number only, so I have never been bumped at the time of a booking.

Actually, I prefer to just walk in or text asking if it's ok to come by in 5 minutes or so. If there is no answer, it is an answer

If I am 5 minutes late and my regular has a booking, I'd expect the reduced time on the duration too so she can keep her booking.

If I have a booking and she took a walk in and ignored my appointment expecting I'd wait, she'd get two surprises!

1- I would leave.
2 - I would conveniently lose her number...

Fuck that shit, there are way too many girls in the GTA. I don't fuck over my clients and ignore scheduled meetings and I ain't putting up with it from anyone else.

If she texted me and said, "A guy just walked in and everyone else is busy, is it ok if we reschedule?" Then, that could be ok.
But if I said, I was outside waiting to come in I would expect her to keep the appointment.
If she didn't, see 1 & 2...

I do have to say though, this almost never happens with the body rubs or Spas with reception that handle the clients, it's usually only the small shops with one, two or three girls each day.

I agree with you guys, I hate when my appointment gets delayed because another guy was late. And like you guys, if I am late, I will cut my own session short.

If your girl is dependable, then it should be fine...

But I have been burnt before even with my faves because something came up or they got distracted and forgot to tell the front desk.

hahaha - I don't ever continue with unreliable MPAs - simple - once burnt - twice shy!

I gave up making excuses for any of it a very long time ago. daty869 was obviously pissed at this behaviour. I understand why. If we keep making excuses we will keep getting what we have allowed. Not me.

If a girl sends me a message or the spa receptionist calls to see if I can change to accommodate and I can. No problem…I’ll do my best. But the recent issues were with the same spa owner and girl where I park the car at 1:15 pm for a 1:30 appointment to be early, and a guy pulls up next to me and runs in…spa owner was out for coffee and arrives at 1:25 so I walk in with her and chat, at 1:30 she calls the girl and finds out her half hour appointment was 15 minutes late and could I wait….i had booked an hour so waited and had my routine session and left…
Recently I arrived 10minutes early and pandemonium between two attendants and the owner on speaker phone in the corridor…
After 10 minutes I go into the room and my girl comes in a few minutes later….
When I get to my car I see a message which would have been 10 minutes before my appointment asking if I can come 40 minutes later instead….
After some pointed text messages I found out that a walk in arrived just before me and my regular girl had taken him and asked the spa owner to tell me to come later…while I was sitting in the reception area…
So - no apology or offer to make amends offered yet… and I will make my decision shortly whether I return or not…

Up to you, but no excuses for that type of behavior with the amount of spas to choose from.
I've never put up with it, mind you my time is flexible so finding another place to accommodate me is easier sometimes, I have no issue walking, for any reason if I'm not happy or comfortable

It’s very common, it’s basically first come first served, even if you have appointment, especially if you are a regular, they think regular customers are flexible, they don’t want to turn away walk in ( possible future regular) there is no loyalty in this business from the provider side

I used to show up 15 minutes early at one place just to make sure I got in the shower before the walk-ins specifically for this reason…

The worse I ever saw was when the girl walked in to see me for my appointment she told me that the guys in the two other rooms next to us were waiting for her also… the receptionist had told her “ massage faster!!!”…

I am very fortunate with my 6 or 7 regulars. 3 of them come in before the spa officially opens for me. For the other ones I always book the 1st appointment of the day. These are all 1 or 2 lady spas, none with a manager.

The other day I booked an appointment and cautioned that I would be 30 minutes later than the opening [a rarity for me ] . The reason that I was not there for the opening is that she got back to me to confirm a bit late. A one lady spa that is not overly busy. In any case when I arrived the sign indicated busy for 15 minutes after my appointment time was to start . Okay- I know that it is hard to turn someone away - almost everyone she sees is a regular. However the sign in short order was changed adding on another 15 minutes and then by text she added on 10 minutes 2 more times.. So now we are going to be 50 minutes after my scheduled time. Seems like the client extended from 30 minutes to a full hour. After the 2nd 10 minute add on I told her I was leaving.

I am a very tolerant guy and was willing to wait the 1st 15 minutes with no quarrel .
She could have told the first guy that she could only do 30 minutes and not allowed for the time extension.

I saw this girl at least 20x in 2024 and maybe almost the same in 2023. She did say sorry for things not working out. I learned my lesson - be there for the opening bell with a confirmed appointment. In any case , although I have not fully decided, this gal probably just lost one of her 3 most regular clients.

I’m not a big fan of seeing the guy the MPA was with before me. I’m not naive, I know she’s seeing other guys. But to have to wait in a room and listen to her sesh next door…not for me. I’d rather just leave and come back another time. It’s unprofessional to have to wait after the sesh was already booked.

I think everyone has had this happen.

Fact remains, if there is a receptionist there is much more control and accountability.

My regulars I talk to always, BUT, never book with the girls, always book with the manager.

Another consideration here.

I had one of the girls say (naturally I no longer visit her), but she said a 1 hour appointment cost her money.

Her rational, she had to wait for me at my appointment time (lets say 7pm), the walk-in comes in at 6.40pm she had to decline and let another girl take the walk in.

My time is 1 hour, and another walk in comes in and the other girl takes the walk in again, so her rational was was this.

My appointment visit tip $100 and room fee $30 total of $130 VS the other girl, 2 half hour walk ins min tip $100 (2 x $50) , and two room fees at $10 each ($20). so $120. BUT ...

She could have, 2 half hour walk ins $160 (2 x $80), and two room fees $10 each ($20), could mean $180.

This girl naturally a hustler was prepared to take her chances, and lose a regular. But fact remains, her math is likely accurate, certainly close to break even.

This one had the audacity to advise me "NOT TO VISIT TOO OFTEN, MABYE ONCE A MONTH", she never saw me again (except in the hall way)!

Not being overly educated, one might suggest her chances longer term were better with a good regular, who will bring a few "nice things, gift cards" etc from time to time and a more stable income.

I think many of the girls are like bulls in bullfight, they see red (cash) and charge ... not enough regard for the longer term opportunites.

Overall I'd suggest most of these issues are alleviated if there is a manager to ensure regular customers get the time they booked. Frankly I won't wait more than 5 minutes, 10 minutes I'm dressed and on the way out.

For those in this area a long time - formerly Kathy at Comfort Foot was famous for this, a 1pm appointment time she would run in 20 or 30 minutes behind schedule, all day long, sometimes seeing 12, 13 or 14 customers in a day.

I guess it helps to be popular, HA!
